Don Randall began his career in the music business as Leo Fender’s partner, and was the man behind most of the amplifiers designed and built in the 1940’s. Before long, because of a desire to experiment and design new amplifiers Don decided to venture out on his own, and began the Randall Amplifier Company. Today the company operates under the same roof as Washburn Guitars and they continue to build very high quality and adventurous amplifiers for great prices. Compared to some of the more expensive brands out there, Randall offers similar or identical equipment and hardware as well as their own unique aspects for a significantly less amount of money.
With standard line combo amps in a number of sizes, Randall offers affordable, high quality amps with features like Celestion Speakers, two channel distortion/gain, stereo chorus and lush reverbs in an attractive package. Powerful, clean and sonically complete, these are perfect amps for both professionals and the folks who like to simply play around the house. Well suited for a number of styles, through the years these Randall amps have been played by country, rock, metal, and jazz players.
Also available are a series of heads and cabinets of various sizes and wattages. From the RH100, a powerful and affordably kicking amp head, to such unique amps as the V-Max (dual pre-amps - with a tube channel and solid state channel) and the 300 watt growling WarHead (with digital effects and more power than any reasonable person needs) Randall has a catalog full of great stuff – all professional grade- built to last, and designed to be played hard. Their cabinets, featuring different speaker set ups (all from Celestion-highest quality) also run the gamut of prices and ratings. We’ve got a large number of these as well, so come on in and try them out.
For those interested in advancements in Amplification, Randall Amplifiers have given us the Modular Tube System. Designed with amp guru Bruce Egnater (very high dollar boutique amp builder), these are the most versatile tube amps to date. Through reverse engineering of removable pre-amp modules, it is possible to have the exact sound of many amplifiers as easily as changing a plug-in pre-amp (simple and user friendly). Randall created a number of different models of these pre-amps, and they are exact tube replications of a number of different amps. From a Fender Bassman to a Vox AC30 to a Marshall Superlead or a Mesa Boogie Rectifier (plus several others), these amps are great sounding, affordable, and a great idea. Unlike Digital Modeling amps, which are computer driven and flawed in sound, these are all tube, and sound great at all volumes, are extremely powerful, and incredibly truthful in their reproductions.
Available in two combo amp formats, as well as in a few models of heads and in a preamp package, a player can have many different amps for the price of one. Over time one can also add modules (they are small and durable) and have access to a greater number of different amps at a fraction of the cost of just one new amplifier. This really is a cool system, and recommended to anyone playing electric guitar.
We have a great relationship with the Randall Company, and we like to keep a large amount of their products in store. All of them have been run through the tests to make sure we’ll keep them, and the ones we’ve got have passed with flying colors. Come on in and see for yourself.
